iSTAKA, a sanskrit word for a ceremonial brick, is a multi disciplinary design firm based out of Bangalore, available nationwide.
It is primarily influenced by ethnic, vernacular and contemporary design.
Our theory is enveloped in strong zoning principles that ensures clear circulation, maximum natural light to the spaces, and giving the space an open look.
We experiment with local materials , colours and finishes ,creating ambient spaces, giving it a different look and character.
We believe in order to achieve this we must take a 360 degree approach to practice that involves everything from design, execution, selections, vendor management and site supervision.

Founder/Principal Architect
Mehak knew she wanted to be an architect at thirteen; long before ISTAKA had a name. Trained in Architecture and Interior Design at Pune University, she has spent over 13 years shaping residential, hospitality and commercial spaces, each with its own rhythm, character and story.
Her approach to design is instinctive but grounded in clear circulation, natural light, honest materials and the belief that the smallest details often define how a space is ultimately experienced. But for Mehak, design has never been only about the finished space. It is equally about the process of nurturing it: understanding the people behind it, listening closely, building trust and staying invested from the first conversation through to the final detail.
That same philosophy has shaped ISTAKA itself. The studio has grown almost entirely through word of mouth - one client, one project and one recommendation leading to the next. For Mehak, that remains one of the most meaningful measures of the practice: that people choose to return, and more importantly, choose to trust ISTAKA with the people and spaces that matter to them.
Through ISTAKA, she brings together architecture, interiors and execution with one simple intent — to create thoughtful, deeply personal spaces that feel considered, lived in and lasting.
